
WSET Level 1 Foundation Certificate in Wine
This qualification aims to provide the basic product knowledge and skills in the service and retail of wine to prepare a person for their first job in hospitality or retail.
This course is also a good introductory first course for the wine enthusiast who wishes to be introduced in a structured way to wine styles, storing and serving of wine plus food and wine matching.
The qualification introduces candidates to:
- The main styles of wine
- The characteristics of the major grape varieties
- The WSET Level 1 Systematic Approach to Tasting
- Service and retail of wine
- Health, safety and legal issues
- The matching of food and wine
To gain the Level 1 qualification candidates will be required to:
Complete a programme of training delivered by a WSET Level 1 Approved Programme Provider and Successfully complete:
-a multiple choice paper of 30 questions
-a portfolio of tasting notes.
The course will run for 1 day or over 2 evenings.
Cost £140 fully inclusive of the WSET study pack, wines, examination and certification. On full day courses only, a light cold lunch will be provided.
